About Us

What are we trying to do and why?

Power comes from solidarity. The Ecosocialist Collective is a space for people in Lund to build solidarity for fighting current eco-social crises.

The aim is to actively live out the kind of reality we want to see.  The way we envision this happening is through creating (a) room for active discussion and learning about the changes that are needed, (b) a space for coming together as a community, and (c) opportunities for directly intervening in business as usual. These are our 3 pillars: learning, community-building, direct action (learn, build, act).

The Ecosocialist Collective is antiracist, feminist, and anticolonialist. Integrating diverse perspectives is essential when imagining and shaping the future.

What is ecosocialism (to us)?

Ecosocialism combines the application of ecological principles to socialism and anti-capitalism with the integration of socialist ideology into environmental action. When we integrate these two perspectives we understand that the climate struggle must also be an anticapitalist struggle, and that the struggle against capitalism is also the struggle against climate change.
Specifically, this means that dealing with the climate crisis is also about transforming social systems in a way that makes them more just, equitable, and inclusive. Community, collaboration, and sharing should be centred when moving towards a more climate-friendly way of living.

Simultaneously, a shift towards a non-capitalist society needs to recognise ecological limits and aim to be in line with nature to be sustainable in the long run.
